Tim Castle
USGTF Level III Member
Chesterton, IN

Currently, I’m the teaching professional at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Indiana, and I’m in my 15th year of teaching overall.

One thing I’ve done is introduce the Player Enhancement program. It consists of 24 lessons on all phases of the game, at a cost of $800. This gives the student a chance to commit to working on their total game – all phases of the game. I find most people, when it comes to individual lessons, focus mainly on their full swings and they neglect the short game. This program gives them an opportunity to truly improve their overall performance. I’ve had 25 people sign up, and I had to cut it off there. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have the time to devote myself properly to all of my clients.

This fall, we hope to build a teaching center to further enhance our programs.

My main philosophy is that teaching is a matter of communicating. We also have a responsibility to see that our students enjoy and appreciate the game of golf, and to grow the game ourselves.

I attended the USGTF certification course this past March in Kissimmee, Florida. I’ve known Course Director Mark Harman for a long time (in fact, we grew up only a few miles apart), so I knew if he was involved then the USGTF must be a quality program. I like the possibility of having 13,000 fellow members to network with, and I appreciate the many federation member benefits.

I will be at the World Golf Teachers Cup this Nov. in Orlando, and I hope to meet a number of fellow members and enjoy the week.
